I think what you said was very reasonable. But, what about this? what if you were to write a killer headline? I am not suggesting your content isn't solid, but suppose you added a post title to maybe get a person's attention? I mean %BLOG_TITLE% is kinda vanilla. You might peek at Yahoo's home page and note how they write news headlines to get people to open the links. You might add a video or a related picture or two to grab people interested about what you've got to say. In my opinion, it would bring your posts a little bit more interesting.
